A collection of the most common carpet stains and how to clean them!

HOW TO USE THE GUIDE:

For all carpet stains always begin with the following 3 steps:

Step #1 – Scoop up and blot as much of the spill as possible. Vacuum up any dry particles.

Step #2 – Prepare the suggested cleaning solutions (listed below), to use on the specific stain. Always beginning with the first one listed.

Step #3 – Test on a hidden spot of carpet or similar fabric to ensure it does not discolor or damage the carpet.

Soft Drink Stains

Make Vinegar Solution & Detergent Solution (See at the bottom)

1. Apply the cleaning solution to the stained area. Note Exception: Apply first to cloth and use the cloth to apply to carpet. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.

2. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.

3. Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth. Do not rub the stained area or you might damage the carpet fibers.

4. Rinse with cold water. Be sure all cleaning solution is removed from the carpet.

Dirt Stains

Make Vinegar Solution & Detergent Solution (See at the bottom)

1. Apply the cleaning solution to the stained area. Note Exception: Apply first to cloth and use the cloth to apply to carpet. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.

2. Allow the solution to remain on the spill for at least 5 minutes.

3. Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth. Do not rub the stained area.

Pet Urine / Feces

Make Vinegar Solution & Detergent Solution (See at the bottom)

1. Apply the cleaning solution to the stained area. Note Exception: Apply first to cloth and use the cloth to apply to carpet. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.

2. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.

3. Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth. Do not rub the stained area or you might damage the carpet fibers.

4. Rinse with cold water. Be sure all cleaning solution is removed from the carpet.

Wine Stains

Make Vinegar Solution & Detergent Solution (See at the bottom)

1. Apply the cleaning solution to the stained area. Apply first to cloth and use the cloth to apply to carpet. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.

2. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.

3. Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth. Do not rub the stained area!

4. Rinse with cold water & dry with cloth

Coffee Stains

Make Vinegar Solution & Detergent Solution (See at the bottom)

1.Apply the cleaning solution to the stained area. Apply first to cloth and use the cloth to apply to carpet. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.

2. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.

3. Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth. Do not rub the stained area!

4. Rinse with cold water & dry with cloth

Ink Stains

Make Dry Cleaning Solution & Detergent Solution (See at the bottom)

1. Apply the cleaning solution to the stained area. Note: Do not apply dry cleaning fluid directly to carpet. Apply first to cloth and use a cloth to apply to carpet. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.

2. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.

3. Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth. Do not rub the stained area or you might damage the carpet fibers.

4. Rinse with cold water, dry with cloth & vacuum again

Chewing Gum

Make Dry Cleaning Solution & Detergent Solution (See at the bottom)

1. Wait for the gum to dry, then take a dull blunt object and brake the gum in as many pieces as you can

2. Apply the cleaning solution and allow it to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.

3. Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth.

4. Rinse with cold water, dry with cloth & vacuum thoroughly

Blood Stains

Make Ammonia Cleaning Solution & Detergent Solution (See at the bottom)

1. Apply the cleaning solution to the stain area. Apply first to cloth and use cloth to apply to carpet. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.

2. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.

3. Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth. Do not rub the stain area!

4. Rinse with cold water & dry with cloth

Candle Wax

Make Dry Cleaning Solution & Detergent Solution (See at the bottom)

1. Brake the wax with dull blunt object in as many pieces as possible. Apply cleaning solution

2. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.

3. Rinse with cold water, dry with cloth & vacuum thoroughly


Solutions Tabs

Detergent Solution – Mix 1/4 teaspoon mild liquid dish soap with one cup warm water.

Vinegar Solution – Mix 2 tablespoons white vinegar with 4 cups warm water.

Ammonia Solution – Mix 2 tablespoons clear, white non-suds ammonia and 4 cups cold water.

Dry Cleaning Solution – Use nonflammable dry cleaning fluid or a liquid spot remover from the grocery store or hardware store.
